September 2015
Dear friends!
Thank you to every one of you who made helping others a habit and a necessity!
Thanks to little but regular donations we were able to pay a part of the deposit 5 thousand euros last month so that Nikolai Gerasimov, 11 yo, who is suffering from osteosarcoma, could start to be treated on time and hence get a chance to fight his illness!
Our volunteers not only invest money but also their time into other people. And their soul as well! Here are some examples of what our volunteers were thanked for last month:
Dima Sysoev, 2 yo, severe mucoviscidosis, returned home after two weeks of treatment in Munich. He was helped a lot, gained weight, the family bought medications. Thank you very much for the transport from and to the airport, the translations and the moral support.
Rostislav Gazovskij, 4 yo, lymphoblastic leukemia and as a result of treatment symptomatic epilepsy with complex partial seizures, toxic hepatitis, bronchial asthma, chronic pyelonephritis, atopic dermatitis.
Family comes from Lugansk, got treated in Kharkov. From the 18th of August he has been in treatment by the clinic of Schwabing, Munich. His mother is very grateful for the support at place (welcomed them, transported, sorted out a place to stay).
Nikita Pimenov, 11 yo, brain tumour (recidive)
After the operation of removing the cancerous brain tumour, Nikita had a couple of infection (mould, there even was a lung infection) and the boy has been in a critical situation a couple of times. By request of his mother Anna we were able to find priests twice which were able to come to the clinic immediately at short notice. Thank God he is still (miraculously) hanging on!
Yulia Klym, 8 ya, Neyroblastoma, palliative state, lives in Crimea. Message from our volunteer who visited her:
“The girl doesn’t walk anymore, doesn’t have any strength, lies in bed, complains a lot, eats as much as a kitten, lost weight, everything hurts arms and legs, four times a day she gets pain killers, soon she will be transferred to morphium. She was very happy to receive the presents. Mother, father, grandma, grandpa all of them are close by. They convey greetings and express their gratitude to all the volunteers who helped Yulia and her mother during the time of her treatment in Munich.”
Our children in September:
Olga Sikirnickaja, 16 yo, diagnosis: spinal tumour, scoliosis.
Since she was nine years old, Olga has been fighting her tumour. Quite successfully. But after the operation on her spine and installation of a construction the girl stopped walking.
The construction broke, scoliosis developed. In 2015 Olga went through a lucky operation in Germany, after which she was able to sit without pain. Now her life goal is to be able to stand on her legs. The doctors from the German rehabilitation centre are sure that it is possible to achieve that in three months, even though it will be very difficult. The sum asked for by the clinic is 34 045 euros. The deadline is the 28th of September! Sum still left to be collected: 23 801 euros.
Danil Ahizanov, 3 yo, Tolyatti, diagnosis: CNS dysfunction, epilepsy. The child suffers from frequent seizures, which destroy him physically and don’t give him a chance to develop. The parents believe that their child will start walking and talking, playing with other children in the court! Their hope is a treatment with a ketogenic diet course in the German Filderklinik in Stuttgart, where he is welcomed on the 5th of October. The cost of the course is 2765 euros.
News:
A charity ball was held in Munich, organised by the orthodox youth of the church of Saint Nicholas. The collected money (around 500 euros) will go to the account of the Diakonia “Good Deed”.
Dear friends!
Due to recent changes and the ever so expanding area of work, global acknowledgement and new horizons we are looking for new supporting forces for many positions in our Diakonia! We desperately need managers and workers of clinics as well as in the translating, technical and juristic support departments! All of these are accessible from the distance, which means that you can work for us no matter where you live, what matters is your will!
We also need large storage rooms in Germany for collection and storage of medical technology and its distribution to those who need it.
We will be grateful for any help!
HURRY TO DO GOOD!
I love you all!
Yours Alina
