Ksenia Sapozhnikova, 6 y. o., Khabarovsk, Russia, congenital false leg joints. Ksenia is a long-awaited child in the family. The pregnancy and childbirth proceeded without complications. Yet shortly after the birth, the problems with the legs were discovered: the fibula fractures on both legs. The pessimistic forecasts of doctors, an unsuccessful operation, a ban for the girl to move till the age of 1.5 years, wearing orthoses for a long time, the first steps in special devices: all those things the girl and her parents had to go through. Later they managed to find a professor in US who made a successful surgery on congenital false joints. He made this in 2018, and the girl learned to run, jump and move actively, and practically does not differ from the children of her age. Now it is time to replace the telescopic pins and remove the supporting structure. This operation costs EUR 34,000.

Ivan Moskvichev, 4 y.o., Krasnodar, Russia, cerebral palsy, lower spastic paresis. Ivan was born at 28th week of pregnancy with a weight of 1180 grams. He spent his first 9 days in intensive care, where he had a brain hemorrhage. Doctors have not noticed this on time. At the age of 3 months, the boy was fitted with a shunt system. At the age of one year, he was diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Ivan practices every day. Due to this, he learned to sit, crawl, stand with a support, and walk a little. But the rapid growth and the increasing tone of the leg muscles did not allow the baby to develop further. In September 2021, Ivan underwent a surgery, and he got rid of spasticity in legs. Now the boy needs to recover fast, consolidate the results and improve his walking skills. Rehabilitation courses at Olinek clinic (Poland) help Ivan very well. The cost of each course is EUR 17,345.

Sofia Shishkina, 3 y. o., Chelyabinsk region, Russia, bilateral congenital hip dislocation, joint hypermobility, connective tissue dysplasia. In 3 years of her life, Sofia has endured a lot: gastrointestinal bleeding, resuscitation, several surgeries, 8 months of wearing a splint. In October 2021, Sonia underwent the most complex reconstruction of the hip joints at Helios clinic in Berlin. Now the girl needs a high-quality rehabilitation. Due to concomitant diagnoses, it is not easy for Sonya to get back on her feet. At home, the mother takes full care of the girl. However, this is not enough: an all-around and competent approach of specialists is required. For rehabilitation at Sakura center in Chelyabinsk, EUR 1,500 is needed.

Yan Loktev, 10 y.о., Saratov region, Russia, heart disease. Shortly after the birth, Yan was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect. In the first year of life, the boy was fitted with a mechanical heart valve. Now Yan is already 10 years old. The valve does not work well any more, does not keep up with the growth and development of the child. Yan began to have pain attacks, shortness of breath and weakness. The valve has to be replaced. Yan’s life expectancy will depend on the quality of the operation performed. A quality operation can be done by German doctors at the Berlin cardiology center. However, the operation is not affordable for the family: the mother brings up Yan alone, his father has passed away. EUR 156,356 is required.
