FEBRUARY 2019
Greetings, dear friends!
We have done a great job in January!
We have paid: the rehabilitation of Nikita Kucherenko from Nikolaev, 18 years old, cerebral palsy; diagnostics and consultation with the best epilepsy specialist in Germany for Sebov Alexey from Odessa, 2 years old, infant epileptic encephalopathy, and for Bogdan Nutrikhin, 8 years old, Syktyvkar, epileptic seizures after an oncologic disease; the treatment at the University Hospital of Wiesbaden for Varvara Yatskova from Stavropol, 8 years old, cicatricial stenosis of the larynx; the treatment at the Ichilov clinic in Israel for Ivan Sidorenko from Lugansk region, 7 years old, Ewing sarcoma; as well as an apartment for the period of treatment in Berlin for the family of Lina Belyayeva, 10 years old, acute lymphoblastic leukemia; and plane tickets from Abakan to Dusseldorf for the family of Yana Labun, 9 years old, heart disease, for whom it is vital to be regularly examined at the Asklepios clinic.
This February, for the first time for the monthly information letter we did not find children that need an urgent financial assistance! The main reason for this is the active and persistent work of our department responsible for contacting German charity funds. Thank you so much to the volunteers involved and to the wonderful coordinator of the department!
However, our care-receivers are still in permanent need of financial support, and not only for the treatments. No fund would cover diagnostics, rehabilitation, medicine, transportation, nourishment, etc. This is why we will be very thankful for your further support!
Let me make here several announcements.
Since our Diakonia “Good Deed” is expanding and improving, we really need an assistant for the PR department. The tasks are: managing the pages of Diaconia in social networks, technical and design support for monthly letters. Please respond if you have sufficient skills and are ready to invest 1-2 hours of your time per week.
This year the International Volunteer Day will be held on July 5-7 in Germany, in the city of Krefeld. The topic is: Legal and technical aspects of volunteer work in Europe. There will be round tables on participation of children and teenagers in volunteer work, on the techiques to prevent burn-out of volunteers, on the effective communications in a volunteer group. There will be also a workshop on the methods to work with seriously ill children and their families. At the special section, we will discuss a new rehabilitation and educational project of “Good Deed” . We will hold a charity event.
We will meet with old friends, establish new contacts, communicate, support each other, have fun and share experiences. The registration for the Volunteer Day will open in April at our site orthodiakonia.de.
We are looking for volunteers who are ready to take part in our joint project with the Moscow charity organization «Miloserdie». This year we have decided to learn how to conduct the famous “White Flower” campaign. For this, we gather a group of people who in the coming months are ready to participate in training webinars, to go to Moscow in May to help to prepare and hold the “White Flower” campaign, and to organize a “White Flower” campaign on behalf of “Good Deed” in their own cities in 2019-2020. The participation, travel to Moscow and living there are free for our volunteers.
The number of participants is limited. Please send the applications personally to me.
HURRY TO DO GOOD!
I warmly embrace everyone,
Yours Alina Titova
