Approaching us is the warm and welcoming Christmas time, despite the frost outside! It is time to share your warmth, time to think about others and your place and meaning in life. I believe that with the help of our children we all will be able to do a good deed and therefore increase the amount of life and goodness in this world!
In November we have been able to find sponsors money to buy medication for Valerij Davyskub from Ukraine, 16 years, hypophosphatemic rickets, and a course of treatment from Hepatitis for the single mother Elena from Russia. Thank you, our benefactors!

Also a huge thank you to you, our volunteers! As an example of help which is expressed in other ways than monetary support, here is one of the many letters that we receive at the Diakonia address from the parents of the children we look after:

We want to wholeheartedly thank the volunteers from the orthodox Diakonia Good Deed from the city of Cologne. Thank you so much for your help; with our daughter Riana Safargalina we were having an examination in the Asklepios children’s clinic in Sankt Augustin, then the children’s clinic in Cologne, due to changed dates for the hospitalisation and illness of the child we ended up in a very difficult situation, we simply did not expect to stay in Germany for so long. We got help with our visas, moving places, food, money, translations, and everything was done with dedication, we also got picked up and driven back to the airport. Thanks to you we have gone through everything and have returned home. Thank you so much for your kind hearts, for your existence, it is so important in a foreign country to find such kind, communicative, lovely people. A huge parental thank you, may God give you and your family good health and protect you from misfortune, and give you strength to develop and spread your benevolent work. Lisa Razdolskaja from Ukraine, 11 y.o., primary hyperoxaluria. Even a year ago Lisa was a happy child, she went to school, played piano. But after her kidney failed she has been bedridden to a dialyzing bed. The girl needs a kidney transplant. The operation is to be carried out in Minsk. The situation was further complicated as it turned out, during an analyse in Germany, that her younger brother has the same disease and will soon need a transplant as well. For a single mother with two children to deal with this situation is truly terrifying. Please respond!
Sum to be collected: 123 thousand euros.
 

Levon Avagjenjan2 years old, ICP. For another rehabilitation course in the children’s rehabilitation centre “Rodnik” in Saint Petersburg he requires 185 thousand Roubles. The Parents have already collected 40 thousand. They are unable to find the remaining 140 thousand Roubles (around 2000 euros). It is extremely important to start the treatment in January. We ask for your help!

 

 

 

Artem Mesherjakov5 y.o., from Yelets, Russia, diagnosed with erythroderma, has been suffering a terrible skin condition since his birth. Only the treatment in Germany has given him significant relief. The cremes and balms, as prescribed by the German doctors, are required every day, otherwise the skin gets inflamed, dries out, cracks and bleeds. 100 euros a week are required to ensure the child can live and develop normally.
 

Benevolent concerts and fairs for our children happened on the 25th of November in Jena and on the 4th of December in Munich.
On the 11th of December everyone is invited to our Diakonia Christmas Fair in Stuttgart and Berlin and on the 18th – in Berlin and Cologne. More information is on our website orthodiakonia.de
