August 2015
Dear friends!
The holidays are over. We are now returning to our work, our usual worries and delights, with new vigour. The autumn days are shorter. Hurry to do good!
Our first news – on the 4th of July the first Day of the Orthodox Volunteer took place in Cologne, organised by Good Deed.
Around 70 volunteers from 4 countries came together to familiarise themselves with the work of Good Deed, to share experiences and to eventually become one big team. Despite the 40 degree heat, the Day of the Volunteer was a big success. The fruits of our work, as well as the notes from the presentations by Archbishop Panteleimon, Marina Vasileva (head of “Mercy”), Alina Titova (head of Good Deed) and useful material on volunteer work can be found on our site orthodiakonia.de
Apart from that:
The Diakonia has once again paid for the orthesis of Denis Krasnikov, 11 years, ICP, who got treated in Aschau.
The Nikolaevskij orphanage (children aged 0 to 7 years) and the Volnjanskij orphanage (children Agenda 5 to 18 years) have received 300 euros each from the money we have collected for the orphanages. The money was used for the most pressing domestic needs of the orphanages. Thank you all for your help!
The first stage of treatment has been completed for Julia Osokina, 11 years, shunt dependency, who we managed to transport out of Kharkov with great effort. With the aid of your collected donations it was possible to pay a part of the operation expense at the university clinic of Dresden. 10 thousand euro were paid by the Diakonia, the rest was provided by the German fund. The doctors were very surprised to find out about the amount of operations the girl had to go through in her homeland. They replaced the faulty shunt and sent her home to get used to the different level of pressure. Julia and her mother thank everyone who helped them. The child said that the month spent in the German clinic was the best time of her life! Thank you to our Dresden’s volunteers for the excellent work!
Dasha Julmeteva, 18 years old, vegetative state, has arrived in the rehabilitation clinic of Bremen for a treatment. In Russia the doctors didn’t care about her, seeing her as a lost cause. Thank you to the workers of the departments of clinics and foundations who organised her travel! Our volunteers in Bremen will accompany the family during the prolonged stay in Germany. We would also be happy for any additional help!
During an educational fundraising action as part of the Day of the Volunteer, the participants raised around 700 euros which went towards the rehabilitation, the doctor’s consultation and medication expenses for Eldar Eldarov, 6 years, ICP.
2000 euros, collected by the community of Kreuznach for children, who suffered during the battle actions in Ukraine, have been transferred over to Moscow for the treatment of Vanya Voronov from Shakhtersk, 9 years, (lost both legs, a hand and sight as a result of bombing) as well as for operations and medications for three more children:
Pavel Ishenko, 14 y., unfortunate treatment of a broken leg, which he got during the shootings at Debaltseve ,
Dima Geidik, 4 months, family of asylum seekers from Antratsyt, double heart disease,
and Kirill Lisov, 9 y., Donetsk, the constant stay in a bunker has brought on a cold, which turned into a sinusitis, a bad treatment of which led to an inflammation of the brain.
We continue to help!
At the moment we have 7 new requests for help of organisation of treatment or help with financing in progress; a couple of dozen of children, that we continue to help during their treatment; 5 families, which we support at their living place.
We will be happy to do this together with you! Join us!
HURRY TO DO GOOD!
I love you all!
Your Alina
