Christ is Risen!

I wish you a blessed Easter, the most joyful and genuine feast of the year. It is when the joy does not come from champagne and delicious food, lively hubbub and fun – it comes from purification and renewal of the soul. There is life and no death! There is energy for us to live forth and to do good.

In the end of March we have had a meeting of coordinators in Stuttgart where we have discussed our work and formulated new goals. A detailed report has been sent to all coordinators of local diaconia groups and special departments, and to all active aid workers. Please read it attentively and act accordingly.

Among the main achievements: we’ve planned Volunteer Aid Worker Day in Germany and have boosted the activities of two departments: work with hospitals and charity funds, technical assistance and design. We still need more well-motivated manpower for all three directions. Welcome to our synergistic and creative team! Call me up to offer your help!

In April we managed to secure financial help for 4 families in Ukraine. I thank all donators who responded and started to sponsor the respective families. The issue is still burning: there are many wounded and gravely ill children who struggle to survive right now! Anybody who is ready to commit up to EUR 200 per month support during 3-6-12 month is welcome to contact me for detailed information.

Concerning the children I wrote about in the previous letter:
with the aid of Hoffnung bleibt organization we have secured funds to buy orthesis and rehabilitation braces for Sasha and Pasha Stanukevish, Belarus, cerebral palsy, 6 y.o. In mid-May the boys should get the appliances – and thereby a chance to sit and walk on their own.

Yana Labun from Abakan, 4 y.o, heart disease, got the ticket and means to buy medicine. Several days ago the little one with mother and grand-mother has arrived to Germany for a crucial surgery. Let us pay for a good outcome.

Our pre-Easter charity bazaars have brought more than EUR 2,000 for the children we support. Thank you all who organized those and who came and took part in Good Deed!

It might seem from my letters that we mainly collect the funds. No, not really – in fact, not at all. Our main goal is to support a child and her/his family during the treatment: by supplying information, settling organizational issues, and also providing the spiritual help. To find the lacking funds is an option – of course, an important one. I wrote so much about money since for the children it is the only possibility to get the treatment, and for us it is an opportunity to help our neighbour and a materialisation of our love.
