February 2015
Dear friends!
I am issuing more and more confirmations of your kind offers for the tax service. The sums are not small: € 200, 500, 2000… I like this very much!
Thanks to everybody who has helped in January – with money, time, or expertise. Thank you for your devotion and kind heart! Let me convey to you the feelings of deep gratitude from all children and parents, who get a little happier and bolder with your help!
This month we help to:
Kostya Kovalev, 4 y.o. (AIDS) got diagnosed in Frankfurt. Funds for the trip have been risen by Marfo-Mariinsky convent in Moscow, and by us, Diakonia in Europe. The hotel owners in Germany have hosted Kostya and his accompanies, the nurse and the reanimotologist, free of charge. We have organized his pick-up at the airport and escort over the country. The child successfully underwent the trip and the examination, though in the beginning he was so much afraid of people in white attire…
The results and the treatment advice will be known in several weeks. I’ll keep you updated.
Denis Krasnikov, 11 y.o. (Cerebral palsy, two-sided hip dislocation ) is preparing for the sergery that permits him walking. The orthopedic verticalization stand he required has been made and paid for. € 8,000 from € 14,000 spent have been collected by you, dear friends!
Valeria Protsenko, 10 month old (Cerebral palsy, partial optic nerve atrophy). The little one from Lugansk has arrived to Saarbrucken despite all difficulties and obstacles. Thank you for your support!
Dasha Parkhomenko 7 y, (juvenile rheumatoid arthritis with eye lesion) underwent the after-surgery control in Aachen hospital. The doctors expect her to come back in six month for further treatment. They give a big chance to full restoriation of her eyesight.
Yana Labun, 4 y.o, valvular heart disease . The last examination has shown that Yana urgently requires yet another surgery . The bill amounts to € 37 850. We have to collect this by April 20!
Artem Kovalev, 7 y.o. (Cerebral palsy) requires a special walking trainer. The suitable trainer has been found: the problem now is the transportation. If anybody can help with getting it to Russia, I would be extremely grateful!
Twins Sasha and Pasha Sanyukevich, 5 y.o. (Cerebral palsy) from Grodno, Belarus, are preparing for a trip to Bonn for a consultation regarding the choice of anti-epileptic medicine. After this, they will undergo a surgery and a difficult rehabilitation. The bill to pay: € 12,000.
Yulia Osokina, 11 y.o., (Brain tumor, shunt dependence). Till recently, Julia from Kharkov had the first rank in her class. Her mother was proud of her success. Julia cannot study anymore spending most time in the reanimation section. For last several months, she had to undergo tens of brain surgeries! Low-quality expired shunts available in Kharkov get clogged and do not work. Yet they do not have any better – and have repeat the surgery in several days to change the clogged shunts. Julia suffers enormously. Nobody knows how long she can stand this. She has had an apoplexy and was close to death. The mother does not leave Yulia for an hour. She also needs a strong moral support. Nobody except us can help. University hospital in Dresden is ready to treat Yulia. The price tag is € 12,000. The transportation to Germany would cost another € 8,000. In addition, Yulia, her mother, and her grandparents who suffer from cancer, require € 100-150 per month for food and medicine.
We are looking for somebody who is ready to support and assist to the family for several months. Please write to me or give me a call!
Humanitarian help for children in Ukraine
You remember that in December we all collected humanitarian help for children in Ukraine. Time has passed and I would like to report what part of the cargo has reached the destinations.
At the moment, a part of 40 m3 has been delivered to Lugansk and Donetsk regions. This has happened with the help of Dobrosvet organisation and the initiative group in Ludwigsburg. You can see some photos of the action here: http://dobrosvet.ee/page-84.html. People are grateful for the help! The documents confirming the delivery have not been received yet, partly due to the complex situation in the regions.
The other convoy was designated to Kharkov through Lviv. It did not go yet. As compared to December, the conditions for delivery of humanitarian help to Ukraine are much more complicated. At the moment 80 m3 of cargo – pampers, baby food, equipment for disabled, etc. – is still in Germany. I appeal to everybody who can help with the delivery of the whole cargo or a part of it – we need your support!
Besides the materials, you have offered some money. Diakonia got € 1725.
We have spent:
– on confectionery presents to kids: € 216
– on transportation: € 900
– on pampers and linen for Volnyanski orphanage: € 400
Thank you for your help and understanding!
Initiative on medical equipment
Finally, I’d like to share my joy of meeting a real hero, a man of big heart! Yakov from Hannover has managed to gather and transport to Russia, Ukraine and Belarus lots of medical equipment required for cerebral palsy patients: special beds, buggies, walking trainers, etc.
Diakonia is ready to help Yakov. For this, we would like to enforce our equipment group, and appeal to you and everybody.
We require
1. Voluntary aid workers for the support group in Hannover
2. Voluntary aid workers to write and send requests to German organisations.
3. Partners to assist with the transportation.
4. Partner organisations in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus for receiving the equipment and distributing it right to those in need.
Please contact me with your suggestions or for more information.
I wish much health to you and your families!
Hurry up for good deeds!
Yours truly, Alina
